LAMB OF GOD Frontman RANDY BLYTHE Joins Resurrected SAMHAIN On Stage At Chicago RIOT FEST (Video)
September 14, 2014LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe joined the resurrected SAMHAIN on stage last night (Saturday, September 13) at the Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois to perform the song "All Hell". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.
SAMHAIN's concert at Riot Fest marked the band's first full set since 1986 and it coincided with the 30th anniversary of the release of SAMHAIN's first EP, "Initium", which Blythe said was "about as big an influence on me as any record about there — so pure and so dark." He stated prior to the show: "I am freaking pumped beyond belief to be witnessing this."
In addition to Glenn Danzig, SAMHAIN's lineup for the reunion shows includes Peter Adams of BARONESS alongside "Danzig Legacy" players London May and Steve Zing.
Stated Adams: "I'm truly excited, It's a great honor to share the stage with SAMHAIN on the 30th anniversary of 'Initium'! SAMHAIN has helped shape how I've played music, and the music I've listened to, since I was a teenager and will continue to, on into the future. To be a part of this legacy is great beyond words!"
Formed in 1983, SAMHAIN had a rotating lineup of musicians before disbanding in 1987 and eventually transforming into DANZIG.
May, who was SAMHAIN's drummer from 1985 to 1987 and played on the 1986 LP "Samhain III: November-Coming-Fire", told Wells On Music that there are no plans as of yet for SAMHAIN to work on new material, but he revealed that "Glenn has talked about releasing an 'Initium' outtake called 'The Urge', which is part one of a trilogy of songs, including 'The Shift' and 'The Howl'. He had mentioned the song way back in the old days, but I wasn't sure it really existed. Well, it does, and I'm excited to finally hear it."
